For more than 25 years, the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department has hosted the Clarksville Challenger League. The league is devoted to special needs players of all ages and is a non-competitive program, with a goal to simply have fun playing the game of baseball. Registration for the 2017 Challenger League season is currently underway.
Clarksville Challenger League
When the league started decades ago, they had less than 10 players. As of 2016, that number has grown to nearly 100 participants ranging in ages ranging from 5 to 35. Some participants and their families drive as many as 48 miles each week to play in the league. All games are played at the Clarksville Little League Fields, which is one of the only facilities in the area with a rubberized field designed for special needs children. Games are held every Thursday night, and there are no outs, and the score is not kept.
Southern Indiana residents who are interested in the league can learn more by visiting downloading a 2017 Registration Form. Registration ends on Monday, March 6, 2017.
