Youthful Hearts Aerobics

Studies have shown that exercise provides many health benefits and that older adults can gain a lot by staying physically active. Even moderate exercise and physical activity can improve the health of people who are frail or who have diseases that accompany aging.  These exercise classes are designed specifically for senior adults.  On Wednesdays, a chair is used for seated or standing support.  Pre-registration is not required, but a waiver form must be completed at the first class.  Try your first class for free!

 

Instructor Leslie Michael is a Certified Senior Fitness Instructor by the American Senior Fitness Association.

Zumba Fitness

"Ditch the workout, join the Party" is Zumba's motto.  Inspired by Latin dance and music, Zumba uses a variety of styles such as Salsa, Merengue, Mambo, Calypso and Reggaeton. Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms to help tone and sculpt the body. The dance steps are easy to follow and it's fun and addictive!  No dance experience is necessary to enjoy Zumba!

Bring a bottle of water. Drop-ins welcome at $5 per class.

Hatha Yoga

In these Hatha Yoga classes, you will be guided by the instructor through a series of poses designed to strengthen your body and develop increased flexibility. Each class ends in deep relaxation. Hatha Yoga brings balance, strength, and a sense of well-being to the practitioner. This class is suitable for all levels of students, with modifications offered to fit your individual needs. Clarksville Cruisers Walking Club

Don’t let the cool fall weather keep you from getting your exercise.  Join the Clarksville Cruisers Walking Club and take a brisk walk through the halls of Clarksville Middle School.  Walk at your own pace in a climate controlled environment.  There is no charge for this activity, however

Adult Volleyball

Bump, Set, Spike! Have fun while staying fit with our recreational non-competitive volleyball program. Volleyball is a popular competitive sport that can be played by players of all ages, indoors or outside. It originated in the United States in 1895 as a blend of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball.  Please wear tennis shoes (no black soles please) and comfortable clothing. Karate for Kids ATA Taekwondo

Taekwondo is the most popular martial art for kids. It develops confidence, respect and courtesy, and it's fun!

 

Tiny Tigers (age 4+) Kids learn how to respect others, follow instructions, build self-confidence and work together while learning kicks, blocks and strikes.

 

Karate Kids (age 7+) A structured environment helps instill self-confidence and focus. Students will see improved coordination, balance and flexibility by practicing an array of techniques.

Students are rewarded for good behavior at home and school/daycare.

 

As kids progress, they earn progress stripes on their belt. Students can also test for higher ranks (additional fees apply). Beginners should wear t-shirts and workout pants. ATA uniforms are encouraged (purchase from instructor, $30 each). Phil Back, ATA 5th Degree Black Belt, has practiced taekwondo for 28 years. Mr. Back has been teaching children taekwondo for most of his martial arts career and strives to bring out the best in every child. For questions, please contact Mr. Back at mrback@spinkick.com. Descriptive Imagery

As many of us know, life can be stressful.  Learn to relax with this class, which utilizes deep

breathing combined with guided positive imagery and music. This combination helps fight tension, anxiety, and enhances well-being. Please bring a mat or towel to each class.

Adult Kickball

This activity is for the kid inside all of us! Join us every Tuesday evening in the month of October

for our non-competitive kickball program. No need to organize a team or pay any fees. Just register online for FREE and show up to have a good time! All games will be played on the fields at the Clarksville Softball Complex. Be sure to bring a bottle of water!

Learn to Play Pickleball - FREE Clinic

Pickleball is a hot new sport sweeping the nation, so we decided to build 3 new courts in Clarksville’s Ray Lawrence Park. To celebrate our new courts, we are hosting a FREE clinic to teach area residents how to play the game. Pickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong to create a fun and exciting experience. The game is played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Equipment will be provided for this FREE clinic. No Registration Required!
