SUMMER EXPLORERS LEADER - PART-TIME/SEASONAL

Summer Explorers is a free program that keeps children age 7-12 active and entertained during the summer months. We meet at our parks and facilities four days a week for sports, swimming, arts & crafts, games, and more!  Summer Explorer leaders are tasked with the supervision and well-being of the children enrolled in the program.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist other Summer Explorer Leaders in the supervision of up to 100 children
  • Assist with the set-up and clean-up of daily events and activities.
  • Work to develop positive relationships with the children in the program by playing game and having a good time.  Our leaders are not babysitters!
  • Ensure that all program rules and policies are followed by the participants.
  • Attend all employee training sessions and meetings.
  • Work to meet parent needs and address concerns.
  • Administer first aid to program participants when needed.
  • Wear assigned uniform on a daily basis. (Program t-shirt and khaki shorts)
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator.

 

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to a positive, fun, and team-oriented working environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with children of all ages and abilities.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and be outside in the elements for hours at a time.

 

Additional Desired Skills (Preferred, but not required):

  • Background working with children.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification.

 

Wage: $10.50 Per Hour

 

Location: This program is held at various Clarksville Parks and facilities.  Summer Explorer Leaders are responsible for meeting us at these various locations each day.

 

Hours: The program meets Monday-Thursday for 5 weeks (June 3-July 3).  Hours are generally 8:30am-12:30pm from Monday through Wednesday, and 11:30am-3:30pm on Thursdays.  Summer Explorer Leaders will also be required to work additional hours throughout the summer at special events.

LIFEGUARD (CLARKSVILLE COVE) - PART-TIME/SEASONAL

This is a seasonal position that reports directly to the Aquatic Manager. Lifeguards are responsible for actively maintaining safety and responding to emergencies. Hours vary pre- and post-season, but are 30-40 per week when the Aquatic Center is open May – September. Candidate must be able to work prior to the season for startup and after the season for shutdown.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Guard the lap pool
  • Supervise patron activity to ensure safety
  • Enforce facility and health department rules
  • Maintain professionalism while enforcing rules and disciplining when necessary
  • Supervise splash pads and slides when not actively guarding
  • Assist in maintaining a clean facility when not actively guarding

 

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with the public
  • The ability to work in a high-energy multi-tasking environment
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Lifeguard certification, or the ability to obtain certification by May 21

 

Wage: $12.50 Per Hour

GUEST SERVICES (CLARKSVILLE COVE) - PART-TIME/SEASONAL

This is a seasonal position that reports directly to the Aquatic and Recreation Director. This position will work in three areas (Admissions, Concessions, Pool Deck) of the Aquatic Center. Hours vary pre- and post-season, but are 30-40 per week when the Aquatic Center is open May – September. Candidate must be able to work the full season, Memorial Day to Labor Day..

 

Responsibilities:

  • Works as admissions cashier, taking payments, answering phone calls, answering questions
  • Sells merchandise out of the admission kiosk
  • Works as concessions cashier
  • Cooks as needed and prepares drinks
  • Enforces splash pad, water slide, and facility rules on the pool deck
  • Helps with the daily cleaning and maintenance of the Aquatic Center
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years of age prior to start date
  • Cashier and money handling experience highly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with the public
  • The ability to work in an outdoor, summer environment
  • The ability to work in a high-energy multi-tasking environment

 

Wage: $10.50 Per Hour

PARK MAINTENANCE LABORER - FULL-TIME

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation District is accepting applications for a Full-Time Park Maintenance Laborer responsible for performing general upkeep and maintenance at parks, facilities and grounds.

 

Start Date: March 14, 2022 or After

 

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining buildings, grounds, athletic fields, and playgrounds, including mowing, trimming/cutting shrubs and trees, landscaping, seeding/planting, leaf removal, restroom cleaning, painting, removal of trash and debris, and snow removal.
  • Assists in the maintenance, repair, installation, and construction of recreation buildings and facilities.
  • Uses hand and power tools and equipment such as chain saws, string trimmers, industrial mowers, backhoes, skid-steer loaders, tractors with moving attachments, turf equipment and motor vehicles.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and repair of equipment and motor vehicles as needed.
  • Assists with minor irrigation, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in landscaping and turf care required.
  • A general knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and light construction/remodeling preferred.
  • Must be able to learn quickly, follow directions and work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be outside in the elements.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug test.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

 

Hours: Regular hours are weekdays 7:00am-3:00 pm; however, this position will require working some evenings, weekends, holidays and during inclement weather.

 

Wage: $15.57 per hour (FLSA: Non-Exempt)

MAINTENANCE STAFF - PART-TIME/SEASONAL

The Clarksville Parks and Recreation District is accepting applications for a part-time laborer’s position to assist in the maintenance and repair of parks and recreation facilities.  The person will be responsible for mowing, landscaping, upkeep of park areas, and the general repair and cleaning of buildings and facilities.  Position includes work on evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather.  Weekend only positions also available.  Staff are mainly needed March-October, but schedules are flexible.

 

Qualifications:

  • The ability to lift up to 50lbs required.
  • Ability to learn quickly and follow instructions.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • You must be at least 16 years old to apply.

 

Wage: $15.97 Per Hour
