summer explorers program

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

This program will keep kids ages 7-12 active and entertained during the summer months. We will meet at our parks three days a week for sports, arts & crafts, games, and more! Transportation is not included, so parents are responsible for drop-off/pick-up for each event.  See below for our tentative schedule, program leaders info, and important parent info. Space is limited!

The 2018 Summer Explorers program is now FULL, but we are accepting names on our waitlist.

Quick Facts:

  • This FREE program is open to kids ages 7-12 only. No exceptions.
  • Program runs June 4th-July 5th, Monday-Thursday.
  • Program locations vary based on the day, and transportation is not provided.
  • Children must be registered by June 1st, and space is limited.
  • Lunch is provided most days thanks to a partnership between Aramark and GCCS through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.

RULES AND OTHER NOTES FOR PARENTS

  • All activities/times/locations are subject to change.  Parents will be notified by email when a change is made, so make sure we have your correct email address.
  • Any child who is dropped off/picked up late more than twice, will not be allowed to attend further Summer Explorer events.  Parents must arrive within 10 minutes of the scheduled end time.
  • Children MUST be dropped off on time.  If a child arrives more than 10 minutes past the program start time, they will be unable to attend that day.
  • Children must attend at least one other Summer Explorer day each week, in order to be able to join us at Clarksville Cove on Thursdays.
  • Snacks are only provided on the days listed on the schedule above.  Children are encouraged to pack a water bottle and snack (if desired) on the days when snack is not provided.
  • All Summer Explorer events are free of charge, but children may want to bring spending money for the concession stand if they would like a snack when we visit Clarksville Cove Family Aquatic Center.
  • We strive to provide a fun and safe environment for our children.  To accomplish this, we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to fighting, foul language, or any other inappropriate behavior.
  • The Clarksville Parks & Recreation Department reserves the right to remove any child from the program for behavioral problems.
